About Antcliffe Beckett family
There are many spellings of the name, but the family seems to have stayed in the same area of North Nottinghamshire for the last 400 years. The main thinking behind the surname seems to be that it originated in Arncliffe,Upper Wharfdale, North Yorkshire. I have been researching my tree for over 40 years now. I have my great Uncle Charles Antcliffe to blame(thank) for that..
He told me his mother came from Scotland and that was the hook. At age 14 I thought Scotland was very exotic, how George Henry Antliff met, yet alone married a Scottish lady I will probably never discover, but it has certainly been fun trying. The absolute shocker though was discovering by complete accident that my great great grandmother Mary Davison Antcliffe, was convicted of murder.I knew she had lost her leg in an accident and was trawling the newspapers for this when I came across her trial...I also found her sons accident. My father had told me he had lost an eye when a friend threw a stone at him.I had thought him badly scarred on his photos, for an accident with a stone, but did not think too much of it. Turns out he was hit in the face with a shotgun blast, and yes by a 9 year old friend!! Always a little truth to those old family stories.

I have had lots of help and much sharing of info,This has helped with the costs of certificates etc, and I thank everyone for that.
This is my backup copy as I lost all my info a few years ago when my last computer died, my way of saving away from home as it were!!
I realise I have people on here that are very loosely linked, my problem has always been when to stop! By doing this though, I have found a connection to my husbands tree going back to the middle 1800s, so that is my excuse as to why I can wander off a little.

I would like to thank the wonderful Robert Wilson for all his help, the fount of all knowledge and wisdom. He set me on the right road, and aimed me at the correct tree.

Any mistakes are entirely mine and I apologise in advance for any you find!!Please DO let me know.I will not be offended in the least.
 Please sign my guestbook.
